L.E.D.s are potentially the new fashion CRAZE?


The picture above is a flexible, implantable, l.e.d. array. This approach allows for stretching and twisting of up to 75%, while the whole circuit is encased in a silicone rubber, making it waterproof as well. With all that said, this prototype is ready for sub-dermal illumination which could aid in monitoring the healthing of wounds, activating light-sensitive drug delivery, or simply adding a unique colorful l.e.d. display on your body!

BlackBerry has reinvented the tablet with its BlackBerry PlayBook


Watch out iPad, BlackBerry has done it again with news of its latest gadget, the BlackBerry PlayBook, soon to hit stores early next year. With a dual core processor powering this sweet tablet you are able to achieve true multitasking, allowing you to watch a movie in on window and browse or check your e-mail in the other. Not to mention its support for Adobe flash, you will be able to browse the internet more fluidly! As always, the BlackBerry PlayBook comes enterprise ready with blackberry secruity, efficiantcy, and manageability. A nice little feature BlackBerry has decided to include in this tablet is the build in cameras for real time video conferencing, which is becoming more and more popular and a must for any hand held devices used today. BlackBerry is setting the standard with this tablet and all its features, including breath taking multimedia support for gaming and a truely vivid experience. Well done BB!

Philips AC-powered OLED module: a more reliable, cheaper alternative for light bulbs



Philips, a well known name for TVs and screens is testing the waters for an alternative for a more reliable, cheaper alternative to current light bulbs. Philips believes that Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLED) are not only good for displays, but they work just as well when used for lighting. Up until now, OLED technology took the high voltage AC from the wall and converted it to  a low voltage DC to supply the diodes. By eliminating this AC to DC conversion process and having the diodes run directly of AC eliminates expensive bulky unnecessary components and produces more efficient light. 


I believe that this technology has potential, my next questions would be: how bright will they be and what are they going to cost?

ViewSonic MB-P702, an e-reader and HD video player in COLOR!




I think we have a great concept here as far as tablets here. With a 7 inch 800x480 resolution, the LCD touchscreen display functions as an e-reader, and displays movies in color, but it is unknown that it offers internet browsing. There is defiantly potential here in the future if they decide to turn it into a full functioning internet-based tablet!

Australian researchers engineer tiny tractor beam


It seems that Star Wars was not too far off from what the future has planed for us as team of researchers from the Australian National University have managed to create a small scale tractor beam that effectively moves tiny particles via a hallow laser beam.
